Joining the Audible WorldStuck home like everyone else during the pandemic, I made the decision to go for it. I don’t know why I procrastinated and fought against the suggestion for so long, lol. I guess it was because, truthfully, I didn’t really enjoy hearing books read, as the characters, of course, never sounded like they did in my head, haha. I was always afraid my own words read aloud would sound, well…lame. However, I can say without a doubt that when I finally took the baby step of putting my first proxy book, A BRIDE FOR FINN, up for audition on ACX and Gregory Lioi submitted one, I was immediately drawn to the strength in his voice and his interpretation of my words. The words he chooses to emphasize are sometimes not what I would do if I were reading it, and, yet, that somehow lends an air of the unexpected to the world of the story. That’s not to say, of course, that he wouldn’t change something I didn’t like. It’s just that there wasn’t much that I wanted him to change once he finished. 😊 Now, I can listen as he brings to life the words I wrote and the characters I created. It’s amazing! At times, awe inspiring. It’s like the story has more depth…as though it went from two dimensional to three. The energy and emotion coming through the speakers often moved me to tears. It truly blessed me that he emailed me a few times through the process and admitted that he had been moved to tears by my words as well. Who would have thought? 😊 You can buy the Audible book here. So, now I’m pleased and excited to announce that my second book in the PROXY BRIDES series is out and available for download. Gregory brought the dastardly Lloyd Fetterman, the wonderful Mr. Hinkle, and the residents of Brownville, Nebraska to life in vivid audio color! Pinterest page for A BRIDE FOR SAM I hope you’ll give a listen! If you’re new to audio books, send me a message and I just might have some codes left to give you a free book. Blessings! I'm so excited about this award! My novel, Sweet Love at Honey Landing, won the Imadjinn Award for the best Historical Fiction Novel of 2019! (The Imaginarium Convention is touted as the best writing conference in Kentucky and the 2nd best in the Southeast USA. Held in Louisville, their juried Imadjinn Literary Awards given at their annual awards banquet are one way in which they recognize and celebrate top level talent.) My book was nominated anonymously, and I was so excited to win. To have your work recognized by your peers is the most wonderful feeling! The book's amazing cover was created by Samantha Fury, and it's always been one of my favorites.
Now, I just need to get on the stick and write the book's sequel! Who knows, maybe that will win an award, too! |
