"I bought two to give as gifts, and they loved them. Already got feedback and all I keep hearing is "I just can't put the book down!". They loved the book and the romance of the story so much they are sharing it with friends. Totally recommend it as a gift for Christmas or anyone that loves romance and historical fiction. It's just great all around. :) Win Win!"
"Knowing “Once in a While” is based on the true story of the author’s parents made this novel that much more fascinating since the reader knows that somehow, some way, they will end up together. However, after a few unfortunate choices, it’s hard to imagine just “how” this will be possible. Chapter after chapter kept me completely intrigued and my imagination running with suspense as the events unfolded while real life threw many curve-balls at Louise and Vic. I may not have lived in the late 1930’s, but the author’s vivid descriptions and historic facts woven cleverly through the plot made me feel like I had. This true-life story is a good reminder that if you listen to your heart, and have faith, with God’s grace, anything is possible. This novel would make an awesome movie!"
"In my personal opinion, I think that this book is written brilliantly. I could imagine: the time period, the character's emotions, their struggles, and triumphs. You will go through so many emotions when you read this book. It is an emotional rollercoaster! I was happy one minute, and sad another. I was laughing one minute, and then the next thing I knew I was crying! There are definitely enough antagonists in this book."
"This is the most interesting series I can remember reading.I finished all 3 in a week, I couldn't put them down and couldn't turn off the light. The fact they were based on true story of the lives of the author's parents i began to feel I really knew them. I thought of them all day long. They became my special friends!"
"WWII era novels are my favorite by far, so when I was introduced this new author and saw she wrote in series, I was even more excited. I Once in Awhile did not disappoint. From the first page to the last word Linda Ellen keeps you enthralled and turning the page. I love the character development, the detailed story line and how the story progresses the way life can.. unpredictably and fast. I had a really hard time putting it down when I had time to read it, I HAD to know what happened next. "
"Great book! Linda does a terrific job weaving a secret relationship, a devastating flood, strength, fear, courage and fun times with values, guilt, relief and love. I feel as though I actually knew some of the people in this story. Linda Ellen is a very gifted author."
"At last a story that had some substance. Well done and complex."
"Great book. It was very hard to put down. Well written."
"Best Book I've Read in a Long Time! I really enjoyed this book and want to read the others in this series. This historical fiction brought to life the 1937 Louisville Flood. The characters were so interesting and well developed. Great read!"
"Loved this book and its sequels! They were some of the best books I read in such a long time! Recommend to everyone!"
"Excellent read! Linda made the characters come to life, and the way she described the events placed you right there in the moment. When writing historical novels, it's difficult not to have anachronisms sneak in, and Linda did a good job not allowing that. Good story, believable characters, story moved along at a brisk pace, etc. Nice job!"
"A wonderful read. No bad language. No steamy sex scenes. A good clean read which grabs ones interest immediately. It was hard to put my Kindle down and stop reading! Upon completion I immediately bought the two other books in this series. I was disappointed when I finished reading the last book of the series!! I highly recommend this series. Linda Ellen is an excellent writer/author."
"I love the way Linda writes, incorporating facts and history into the story, making it all the more real to the reader. She allows the reader to step into the book and live with the characters, feel what they feel and experience what they experience. As a reader, I tend to stick predominantly to historical western (1800s) books, but every now and then I try to branch out and read other subgenres. One thing I love about Linda's books is the fact that I never have to worry about whether it will be good or not, I know for a fact that it will. :)"
"This kind of book is not usually the kind I would read, but I found it wonderfully exiting, full of fun facts, and full of suspense and drama."
